The British Council Gallery in London host the UK/Croatia Extra/ordinary Design Workshops exhibition between 7 and 27 January 2013 .
This exhibition is also the first event of the “Welcome Croatia” Festival which is organized by the British-Croatian Society and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia on the occasion of Croatia’s accession to the EU.
The exhibition will be opened by the Croatian Minister of Culture Andrea Zlatar Violić and the Chief Executive of the British Council, Martin Davidson CMG.
The UK/Croatia Extra/ordinary Design Workshops exhibition is the result of a partnership developed by the British Council Croatia between the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design, Royal College of Art, the Croatian Designers Association and the School of Design, University of Zagreb.
It displays the products created in the inclusive design workshops in Croatia in Zagreb (2011) and Osijek (2012). These workshops connected professional designers and organisations run by, employing or educating socially marginalised groups to create a variety of products with an accompanying visual identity. It has strengthened the organisations’ economic self-sufficiency and enabled them to compete more effectively in the market.
